Society well represented at Wessex Winter Warmer 2024

The 2024 Wessex Winter Warmer was held, as always, in late January at Spinnaker Sailing Club. The teams were greeted on Saturday morning to a very still lake, so racing was postponed whilst the wind built to 8-10knots around lunch time. Once racing was underway, the OCSS team enjoyed some early wins. A tougher race at the end of the day against the team from St George left OCSS on 7/8 as Saturday drew to a close.

The round robin continued until Sunday mid-morning with OCSS making it into gold fleet. In Gold Fleet, the team raced many other teams containing Society members, and had a couple of fun wins involving some last-beat chase downs. 2/5 in Gold meant the team missed out on progressing to the semi-finals, however the OCSS baton was held high by the ‘Cumberland Sausages’ (5/6 society members), who went on to win both their semifinal and the final, to take home the win.
