July 2023 saw the annual Match and Team Racing Varsity matches held out of Island SC, Cowes in their fleet of Sonars.
Cambridge had the upper hand in the Match Racing, winning both first and second string competitions
As focus turned to Team Racing, the Oxford teams were re-born, with a 3-0 lead in both at the end of day 1. The next morning, the Cambridge teams performed under pressure, winning the first races in both the Mixed and Women’s matches. Whilst Oxford managed to finish off the women’s match at the next opportunity and win 4-1, the Mixed match went down to a finely-matched final beat in glamour conditions, for Oxford to win 4-3 – their first Mixed Varsity win since 2012.
