Southampton won the 2020 Oxford Top Gun, held at Farmoor on 8 Feb 2020, from a select entry of 8 universities. Cambridge were runners up (losing the tie break with Southampton), Exeter took the Bronze Medal, and Oxford were 4th.
With storm Ciara clearly arriving on the Sunday, OUYC wisely decided at the outset that this year’s competition would be a one-day event. Brisk winds provided excellent sailing on the Saturday, with a switch to cut-down mains being made immediately after lunch. Slick race organisation meant that all the competing teams had a day of really good sailing.
A big thank-you to Oxford, the Umpires, and Oxford SC for combining so well to produce an excellent event.
