Spring News – March 2017

I am sure that every member will want to join with me in congratulating Katie Nurton on her election as Yachts and Yachting Amateur Sailor of the Year on account of her POW Cup victory, and other successes, in the International 14 Class. Well done Katie!

Social Events
Tom Low organised yet another excellent joint OUYC/CUCrC drinks party at the O&C Club, Pall Mall on 16 March. A brief report and some photographs are on this website.
The Dinner at the 100th Varsity Match (Itchenor) is now confirmed for Friday 7 July. Full details are on the Programme Page of this website and early booking is advised for this very special dinner – if you miss it you will have along wait for the next!

Sailing Results
The Society finished runners-up to Birdham Bandits in a tough Oxford Magnum. A report and photograph are on this website.
A Royal Thames (Blue) team (Society/CUCrC Alumni) won the Cam Cup. A report and photographs are on the CUCrC website (opens in a new window).
Cambridge won the main Windsurfing Varsity Match, Oxford the 2nd team match. A report and photographs are on this website.
Oxford and Cambridge dominated the BUSA Ladies Championships and finished 2nd (Oxf) and 3rd (Camb) in the parallel RYA National Ladies Championships. A full report and photographs are on this website. The Society did not have a team at the event this year.
The UKTRA Championships scheduled for West Kirby this weekend (18/19 March) have unfortunately been cancelled because of gale warnings.
